Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Chatulah is for neighbors who care about cats. These rules apply to sightings, comments, questions, memorials, and profiles. Editorial care guides are separate educational content — not user posts and not veterinary advice.

Be kind and accurate

  • No harassment, hate, threats, or doxxing of people or caretakers.
  • Do not post content intended to harm cats (baiting, illegal trapping, cruelty).
  • Lost-pet and "needs help" posts should be honest; scams and impersonation are banned.
  • Graphic injury photos should be limited to what helpers need; we may remove gratuitous gore.

Location safety

  • Use approximate labels (neighborhood, block, landmark area) — not full street numbers or apartment numbers.
  • Do not map private feeders, colony dens, or home addresses with precision that enables harassment.
  • Photos of private property need a lawful basis; we may remove posts that endanger people or animals.

Reporting, blocking, appeals, and takedown

  1. Report: Email hello@chatulah.com with subject line REPORT, the post URL or share link, and a short reason (harassment, scam, sensitive location, graphic content, impersonation, animal harm). In-app users can also submit via POST /api/reports with target_type, target_id, and reason.
  2. Review: We review reports and may hide or delete content, rate-limit sessions, or ban repeat abuse. Emergency animal cruelty should also be reported to local authorities.
  3. Sensitive-colony takedown: Caretakers may request removal of posts that expose colony dens or feeder homes; include proof of connection when possible.
  4. Appeal: If your content was removed and you believe it was in error, reply to the notice or email APPEAL with the post id within 14 days.
  5. Deletion of your own content: Email us with the post link or enough detail to find it; see the Privacy Policy.

Moderation limits

Chatulah is a small product. We do not promise 24/7 human moderation. Public growth features that depend on mature UGC safety stay constrained until automation and staffing support them. Feed and profile surfaces remain ad-free until moderation maturity warrants a separate review.

Veterinary and emergency boundary

Community posts are not verified medical advice. For open-mouth breathing, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, seizure, suspected poisoning, severe trauma, inability to urinate, or a rapidly worsening condition, contact an emergency veterinarian now.
